JULIEN REVILLOUD
Julien Revilloud was born in Montreux in 1976.
He started playing the piano at the age of seven and studied it for ten years with Cécile Pantillon, before he became interested in playing the guitar. Immediately passionate about the instrument, he immersed himself in rock and blues music for five years, teaching himself how to play by listening to records, before getting interested in Jazz. He took up professional studies at the Swiss Jazz School of Bern where he worked with Ira Kriss and Francis Coletta. He graduated from there with distinction in instruments and pedagogy in the summer of 2003. Parallel to his studies, he attended masterclasses by musicians such as Jerry Bergonzi, Jean-Marie Ecay, Sylvain Luc, Russel Malone, Ray Brown, Dominique Di Piazza, Bob Mintzer, Alex Acuna…In order to perfect his art, he took private lessons with Pierrejean Gaucher and Olivier Louvel.

Principally a guitarist, but also a bass guitar player, he is as at home playing with jazz, funk, pop and rock bands as he is in shows and different musicals, where he has gained himself a solid professional experience (“la revue de Cuche et Barbezat 1998”, Swiss tour with “le Théâtre Ensemble Bienne-Soleure 1999”, “Tricoloris 2001”, “Dame Helvétie Expo 02”, Multi-media creation at the “festival des Urbaines 2003”, “Crescendo 05-06”…).His musical quality, his groove, his lyricism and his ethereal tone have led him to join the Blazz Quintet (CD recorded in 2001), the electronic music band Flying Red Fish (Several singles recorded), or even the guitar quartet 24 Strings (CD recorded in 2004), and Francis Coletta. You can also find him alongside singers such as Robert Sandoz (CD recorded in 2004, tour as the opening act for Bénabar) or Lole (Paleo Festival, Blueballs Festival, MIDEM…). In 2004 he settled down in Paris for a year where he worked on his music and where he had the opportunity to play in the most important jazz clubs (Sunset, Caveau des Oubliettes…).

In addition to various studio recordings, he took a teaching role, organising several musical courses (BBM74, AJAC) and is the co-founder of the school of jazz and current music “Ton sur Ton” which has considerable influence.
