SIMON GERBER
Simon Gerber was born in Bienne in 1977. He spent his childhoud in Tramelan in the Jura. In 1993, he entered “L’Ecole Normale” of Bienne, which he left in 1996 in order to take professional classes at the Montreux Jazz School (as a double bass player) until 1999.

Since the age of 14, he has been the singer and guitarist in several rock bands and composed his first songs in both French and English.
Since then, a lot of different activities have followed; you might have heard him as a “sideman” in several bands, growing from traditional jazz to free-jazz (in particular with Hans Koch, Lucien Dubuis, Roman Nowka, Daniel Perrin, ...), from experimental electronical music to alternative rock (in particular with Lole, Izul, Galaad, Salmonella Q, The Lovejoys, ...), from Hip Hop to French songwriting (in particular with Sarclo, Bel Hubert, Thierry Romanens, Ensemble Vide, ...).

He has also composed and performed the music for a lot of different plays (for instance in several productions of the “Schauspielhaus” in Zürich with Jürg Kienberger and Christoph Marthaler). He also co-composed and performed the music for a radio play for the “WestDeutscheRundfunk” which was recorded in 2002. He can also be heard on several original soundracks (in particular with the director Karim Patwa).

He has also pursued his solo French songwriting career since 2001 and has recorded 3 albums in his own name.
His recent activities (2005-2007), amongst others, have been devoted to the production and musical direction of albums (in particular “A tombeau ouvert" by Sarclo 2006, "Sugary and Dry" by Lole 2007,...).
He has played more than 1000 concerts and has participated in the making of more than 20 albums.
